# Starting a session

> Open a canvas and begin working with the AI in Propane

Chat is the primary way to work in a canvas. Instead of filling in predefined fields, you describe what you are working on and the AI asks focused follow-up questions to gather what it needs.

## Start a session

Open a canvas and type into the prompt input. Paste in rough notes or customer feedback to give the AI a head start — the more context you provide upfront, the sooner it can move forward.
